Professor: Public's Perception of Corruption Can Be Critical

Perceptions are real, even when they are inaccurate -- and an inaccurate perception can have a real impact on an organization's ability to achieve its goals. The public relations process is about strategically managing the way significant publics view your organization.

According to the article, a Colgate University professor hypothesizes that while the United States might not have as big or as direct of a corruption problem as developing nations, the public’s perception of government malfeasance can lead to serious problems for the nation’s political system.
